Ashley’s Visit Part 2: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Day two  of Ashley’s vacation to sunny Florida was spent laying on the beach in St. Augustine.
Yes, this was the 3 times in one month that I have been to St. Augustine.  I can’t help it, I love this city.
We didn’t take any pictures because we forgot and because I really don’t like taking pictures of myself in a swim suit.  gross.
Day three however, was the most exciting.
Ashley and I FINALLY went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
We have been waiting to go to this place since we first heard they were building it about 4 or 5 years ago.
So this was a pretty epic day in the history of our friendship.
We started the day bright and early, getting there jut before the park opened.
(And now the rest of this post will be a story in pictures.)
Entrance to the village.
Only thing that threw me off was the fact that it was over 100 degrees outside and there is fake snow on the roofs.  Fail Universal.

First ride: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey or The Greatest Attraction ever made.

Welcome to the Greenhouse.  We love Herbology.

The Sorting Hat.
I’m a Gryffindor.

On the ride!
The intro music played in your ears and I may or may not have gotten teary eyed.

My new favorite castle.

Hagrid’s Hut

Flight of the Hippogriff.  Cool queue…shortest ride EVER.
Seriously, I blinked and it was over.

Queue to the Triwizard Tournament Dragon Challenge coaster.

Simply magical.

Yeah we bought wands and put on robes.
Expecto Pratronum!
(yeah I’m nerdy)

I bought Hermione’s wand and Ashley bought Ron’s.

Cornish Pasties for lunch.

Back entrance to the village.

In line to see Ollivander’s.  The umbrella helped keep us cool.  NOT. It felt like death out there.

Got to see my friend JP.  Not only does he work there he was actually IN the Harry Potter films.
(He’s the Death Eater who kills Hedwig in Deathly Hallows Part 1. So sad.)

One last view of Hogwarts…..

And of Hogsmeade.

Harry Potter world was definitely the best end we could have had to our best friend trip.

PS.  I got access to Pottermore the next morning!
I am now on a Harry Potter kick and have begun re-reading them from the beginning.

Ashley’s Visit Part 1: A Disney Day

This week was extra special because I had a very special visitor!
My best friend from back home in Texas came to see me!
She got in on Monday night and left early yesterday morning. And boy did we have a great time!
We spent her first day hitting up Disney.
We started at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, then went to Epcot, and finished up the night at Magic Kingdom.
Let me tell you.  Doing 3 parks in one day in 105 degree heat (plus humidity) is no bueno.
I cannot tell you how hot we were.  It was so gross.  So I just want to warn you that most of the pictures you are about to see involve two very red and sweaty looking girls.
This was our first picture of the day.  Not to bad yet!
And here we are by lunch time.  It was hot. Really hot.

It was so hot, we bought fans in Japan.  And had our names written in Japanese.
These were a life savor while we were in Epcot!

Norway, it smells sexy in there.

I told you we looked sweaty and gross.
I didn’t take very many pictures on our Disney day because Ashley has this super awesome camera, so we used that most of the time.
My little point and shoot only snagged a couple of pictures.
The best thing we did was the Fireworks Dessert Party at the Magic Kingdom.
We ate a ton of yummy desserts including:
Fruit tarts
Creme Brule
Banana Pudding tarts
Chocolate Mousse
Ice Cream
Rise Crispy Treats
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
It was delightful!

We even had special viewing for Wishes (Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show).
By the end of the day we were beyond exhausted.  Our feet hurt, our hair was a wreck, and we didn’t smell to pretty either.
But we had a blast the whole time!
Stay tuned for Part 2!

A Quickie

So I’ve been dying to blog all week.
But one of my very best friends in the entire world, Ashley, is visiting me this week.
So sadly I have had no time.
Tomorrow will partly be dedicated to blogging and the other to stalking the Pottermore website so I can get access to it before October.  (And if you haven’t heard of Pottermore and you are a Harry Potter fanatic you need to click here and learn all about it!
Here is what you have to look forward to on my corner of blogland:
1. 1 day 3 Disney parks and two VERY tired best friends.
2. A super yummy fireworks dessert party.

3. Another fun filled day in St. Augustine.
and the most exciting……
It’s going to be fabulous!
Toodles for now!
