Book Club Friday: The American Heiress

If you want to participate in Book Club Friday just head over to Blonde…Undercover Blonde with
Heather and play along.  You’ll find a whole bunch of fun books to add to your reading list!
Ok so this week I’m sharing:
Here’s the synopsis:

Be careful what you wish for. Traveling abroad with her mother at the turn of the twentieth century to seek a titled husband, beautiful, vivacious Cora Cash, whose family mansion in Newport dwarfs the Vanderbilts’, suddenly finds herself Duchess of Wareham, married to Ivo, the most eligible bachelor in England.
Nothing is quite as it seems, however: Ivo is withdrawn and secretive, and the English social scene is full of traps and betrayals.
Money, Cora soon learns, cannot buy everything, as she must decide what is truly worth the price in her life and her marriage.
This historical novel one was good. Real good.
It did take a few chapters to get me completely sucked in but I really liked it once I got into it.
Usually with this genre I can pretty much predict what is going to happen by the end.
I dunno what it was about this one though, maybe the writing style or something, but I had no idea how it was going to end.
Would she or wouldn’t she?
Does he or doesn’t he?
Will they or won’t they?
If you wanna know what I’m talking about when I say those things?
Then go read it! 🙂
